Wildlife Quiz Bowl Journey

Brynx Junil Alegarbes represented his Alma Mater, Negros Occidental High School, in the annual Negros Occidental Wildlife Quiz Bowl from 2016 – 2019. Brynx and his teammate represented Negros Occidental in the National Quiz Bowl from 2017-2019 and had bagged three championships. He shared his experience in his 3 year journey with the Wildlife Quiz Bowl in a letter sent to PhilBio.
“As I graduated in the (Wildlife Quiz Bowl) competition, I’ve realized a lot of things. The competition was just not about winning, my heart is full of desire to help conserve and protect the threatened species that I’ve come to know and I’ve come to love. This journey taught me how to be empathetic with the animals and even with the plant species.” Brynx also thanked the foundation and other partners for the opportunity, “I’m also grateful to the Philippines Biodiversity Conservation Foundation, Inc., to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) Negros Occidental and other various organizations that became a part of this journey of mine. Words are not enough to express my gratitude to all of you.” Brynx ended his letter with, “I’ll forever cherish the moments I’ve had in this competition. I wish all of you success and to continue this particular endeavor so people would learn to love wildlife, the environment, and the world that we live in, not only today, but for the future generations.”
