Mindoro Biodiversity Conservation Foundation Inc. was formally registered under Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); PBCFI personnel was hired to managed the foundation;
Formally registered the Philippines Biodiversity Conservation Foundation Inc. (PBCFI) under the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC);
Developed the sustainability plan of the Philippines Biodiversity Conservation Programme with the first national partners meeting held at CBCF, Gemsville, Lahug, Cebu City.
Modeled the Local Conservation Areas on Polillo Islands with the Darwin Initiative Project with Polillo Islands Biodiversity Conservation Foundation Inc. and with Cebu Biodiversity Conservation Foundation Inc.;
Established the Polillo Islands Biodiversity Conservation Foundation to facilitate the conservation of threatened species on small islands;
Supported the Cebu surveys that led to the rediscovery of the supposed extinct Visayan (Philippine) Bare-backed fruit bat Dobsonia chapmani in Cebu; Organized the first Philippine Hornbill Conference in Iloilo City;
Supported species-based assessments and studies of Negros-Panay – Masbate and Siquijor threatened species; the first biodiversity survey on Tablas Island was conducted in 2001;
The first site-focus conservation program was established on Cebu with the creation of the Cebu Biodiversity Conservation Foundation Inc., to facilitate island-wide conservation programme; surveys on Negros was conducted to identify potential reintroduction sites of the… A SHIFT FROM SPECIES TO HABITATS 1999
The PBCP embraced the community-based conservation program focusing on areas with high biodiversity needs but receiving less conservation attention e.g. Cebu, Panay, Negros, Mindoro and Polillo Islands.
